Description
There are two types of material offered for a bed cover:
Polycarbonate: This material is flexible allowing for easier (cheaper) shipping and storage. Available in two different thicknesses .062" and .093".
The thinner material (.062") is less likely to to absorb excess pressure under heavy applications.
Polycarbonate will not crack under pressure like acrylic will.
The drawback is under heavy pressures polycarbonate will become slightly spongy causing a pressure loss on the press. Due to this we do not recommend it for uses such as Aqua Tint, Mezzo Tint or Photo Gravure.
(Note: Most printmakers never notice the difference under heavy pressure.)
Acrylic: This material is not as durable as polycarbonate. Recommended for use with heavy pressure applications.

The best way to secure the bed cover to the press bed is to use a piece of clear tape. Place the tape on the end of the press bed being sure not to go under the bed where the bed leveling bearings are located. The rest of the tape can be placed over the top of the bed cover. Only a small amount is needed to keep it in place.
Only one end needs to be taped for this to work. Over time the press bed cover will natuarally begin to lay flat in relation to the press bed and the tape will no longer be required.
